“Cat and Dog” by Lien Geeroms

Lien Geeroms is in our Designer Spotlight today, talking with AFB and founder Jenny Morgan about designing through AFB and more.

Jenny: Lien, as you’ll see below, is really a singular talent.  What first attracted us to Lien’s work was how her imagination, wit and charm shone through in her patterns.  We are so excited to unveil the work that will be for sale in the Art Marketplace and to help introduce Lien’s amazing talent to the world.  Her patterns are so fun, and have a child-like wonder without being overly precious…perfect for toys, bedding, curtains, rugs, paper goods for the modern kid!  Read on for more about Lien.

AFB:  What’s your Favorite Project you’ve worked on with AFB?

Lien:  The AFB Art Marketplace is my favorite project.  I’ve designed some new patterns I’m happy with and I tweaked some designs I made this past year.  I’m looking forward to the launch!

AFB:  Design(s) You’re Most Proud of that you’ve done for AFB to-date?

Lien:  Actually the design wandering around in my head at the moment is amazing 🙂  But that is a work-in-progress!  Aside from that, I’m also fond of the following designs I created for the AFB Art Marketplace…

More About Lien

AFB:  Do you have a favorite celebration?

Lien:  Yes, I love celebrating Birthdays!  Not my own birthday, but preferably the birthday of one of my three boys (my husband being one of them). I love all the rituals involved.  We have a specially decorated chair, a homemade cake with candles that we sing together around and make wishes on for each Birthday.

Birthday Celebration for “My youngest son, Briek, turning 4…see that adorable face?! Need I say more why birthdays are my favorite celebration.”

“My designs start as kind of a mess.  I often start with sketches–actually ‘scribbles’ is a better word–ink drawings, stencils, etc…before I turn to my computer.”

“And then the designs get cleaned up on the computer…”

Lien’s work space. “My wacom tablet was the best investment ever! Besides coffee it’s the worktool I would miss the most. And yes, coffee is a tool… it helps me to get the work done when deadlines are approaching!” 😉

Arne saying YO!

ArneSayingYO_LienG

“This is Arne, my oldest son, buried under some cushions. The cushions were made from a robot-themed quilt I made about a year ago. The ‘YO!’ Bot is Arne’s favourite. Mine is the ‘Slow Bot,’ because it makes me remind myself sometimes to ‘take it slow,’ and take a load off once in a while because it is actually very productive in the long run.”
