Designer Spotlight: Jill Broadhacker
Today Jill Broadhacker is in the spotlight and talks with AFB and founder Jenny Morgan about designing through AFB and more.
Jenny: Jill has been a member of AFB since Day One. We “met” through an online paper forum and then officially met at the National Stationery Show where we both had booths. Immediately I was taken with her fantastic illustrations and fresh, bright style. She has a dry wit and is one of the fastest workers I have ever met – in short, a total dream to work with! Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than seeing the work of talented designers like Jill on so many different products and so many different places.
AFB: Favorite Project You’ve Worked on with AFB?
Jill: My favorite project I’ve worked on for AFB would be a project for a major party retailer. It was my first job that the client picked my artwork style for an assignment. They were really easy to work with, mostly because they knew what they wanted. The subject matter of underwater sea creatures and warm-bright beach icons were fun to create and fit my light-hearted illustration style quite well.
AFB: Design(s) you’ve done for AFB to-date that you’re most proud of?
Jill: The designs that I’m most proud of to date would be:
Thanksgiving Greeting Card
Christmas Photo Card
Mother’s Day Card
Jenny: Jill lives and works in Indiana. When you think of Indiana, you may think of basketball. Or fields. Or a lot of things other than cute and charming design studios. Well, Jill recently moved into a new work studio that is so fabulous, you’re going to want to head straight to Indiana to hang out there with her. (Did I mention she is funny?)
Jill says, “It used to be an old general store, so it has some real charm and quirkiness for sure. I don’t think there is a straight anything in here!”
Look at the amazing colored glass running along the top of the storefront! And of course Jill has added a splash of color on the floor, and had some fun with the numbers of the glass above the door. I just want to grab a comfy chair and a cup of coffee and go gab with Jill here, don’t you?
