Yellow!

When I was a little girl my older sister and I shared a bedroom.  This was the 70s, so wallpaper was all the rage.  My mother and I would go to the wallpaper and paint store, where I would help her look through the stacks of wallpaper books for just the right thing for the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms – including mine and my sister’s.  We found pretty floral came in a few colorways – kelly green with white flowers, bright yellow with white flowers, and I think a blue.  I desperately wanted that bright yellow (to be paired with white quilted coverlets for our beds, and some gingham accents for good measure – like I said, it was the 70s!).  Ultimately my older sister’s pick of the kelly green won but my love for yellow never wore off.  Curtains, some chair trim, and a bathroom are all yellow in my current house full of boys, so my eyes are always peeled for great fabrics and accent pieces in yellow.  Here are some of my faves.

These ceramics – well, ALL the ceramics from the Dahl Haus shop are to die for.   One of everything in yellow, please!  I want these little trays all over the house as catch-alls for keys, change, paper clips and more.

Swoon!  These fabrics from Caitlin Wilson Textiles are so very fabulous and the whole Caitlin Wilson team is such a delight.  I saw that mint Chinois floral somewhere on the web and could not get it out of my head as it is so very perfect for my house.  After many trips to the Caitlin Wilson website and much deliberation, I finally had some pads made for my living room radiator covers out of the fabric and the result is every bit as fantastic as I’d hoped.  Head immediately to the Caitlin Wilson website if you are looking for some cheery yellow fabrics…or just chic fabrics with that perfect balance of trad meets modern.

A lid that’s a trivet!  Bright, cheerful colors, including the sunny yellow above!  What’s not to like about the Kobenstyle cookware from Dansk?  And you can find it online in vintage shops like Ruby Lane, or in thrift stores.  These pieces look fantastic from stove to oven to table.  So fun!
