Today we’re featuring AFB Designer Marcia Copeland, who talks with Jenny and AFB about herself and her work.

Jenny: When Marcia applied to join A Fresh Bunch, her style immediately jumped out at me at simultaneously fun and serene.  Her color choices often have a calming effect, but the underlying illustrations and patterns have a modern zip to them.  And her patterns work for so many things!  As we were working on patterns for Liza & Leo’s wardrobe, we kept going back to Marcia’s patterns because they looked great as a scarf, or a skirt, or a blouse, or a tote bag.  All of this makes her favorite celebration, revealed below, really funny!

AFB: What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on with AFB?

Marcia: My favorite projects so far have been designing patterns for a notepad/notebook manufacturer, as well as designing for The Marketplace. I absolutely love creating bold and colorful patterns that pop, so anytime that opportunity presents itself I know I’m going to have a ball!

AFB: What designs are you most proud of?

Marcia:

AFB: What’s your favorite celebration?

Marcia: Halloween! I just love coming up with creepy and creative ways to decorate the place (especially if we are having a party) and getting my scary movie fix — cult classics, supernatural, zombie, slasher flicks — I’m not picky, I love them all and can’t get enough!
